Less than half of solar businesses believe rebates were a net positive for the industry.

Businesses in NSW were more likely to report a financial benefit from the rebate than those in Victoria — 82% versus 73%. The report suggests Victoria's additional administrative burden may have contributed to the difference.

State of Solar Business 2026 is the first national survey of Australian solar installation businesses produced by Pylon. It was designed to give installers a platform to share what they're seeing on the ground, and to provide pragmatic insights into the performance of individual installation businesses.
The survey was conducted in June 2026 and drew 345 completed responses from solar installation businesses across Australia.
